Terms and Conditions

Pottery Throwing Class Waiver ​​

Payment and Purpose:

  • Class payment is non-refundable so please ensure you choose a date you can make on the calender, where you can see our availabilities. Your booking will not be confirmed until payment is received.

  • I understand that the payment made for this class covers the instructional experience, the use of materials and 1 finished product.

Refunds and Reschedules:

  • Please note that we are unable to offer refunds or reschedules for this class for any reason, including personal conflicts, scheduling issues, or dissatisfaction with the final product.

  • If due to unforeseen circumstances we have to cancel a class we will endeavour to inform our customers as early as possible. In this scenario, re-scheduling will of course be offered free of charge or likewise a full refund can be given. Lucy Young Ceramics is not responsible for any expenses (travel or otherwise) that may be lost due to a cancellation.

Firing Process:

  • I understand that some pieces may not survive the kiln process despite best efforts.

  • I acknowledge that even with the provided instructions, variations in the firing process may occur, affecting the outcome of the pottery.

Collection of Pottery and Shipping:

  • I understand that the work I create during the class will be finished within approximately 4-6 weeks.

  • I have the option to pick up my finished piece at the studio or pay an additional fee for shipping.

Safety in the Pottery Studio

  • Always follow the instructions of the teacher.

  • Keep hair tied back.

  • Do not wear articles of clothing or jewelry that hang off the body.

  • Do not wear open toed or open heeled footwear (i.e., flip-flops, sandals or clogs) in the pottery studio.

  • Do not use any equipment without an instructor present.

  • Please refrain from eating and drinking in the workshop.

  • When cleaning the pottery wheels please ensure that they are switched off and clay water is disposed of correctly.

  • Always clean with a damp sponge and do not sweep as clay dust can be bad for your health.

  • Students will not load, unload or operate the pottery kilns.

  • Students not to use tools/glaze ingredients in the workshop other than the ones they are given instructions on how to use.

  • All completed work must be picked up from Lucy Young Ceramics no later than 6 weeks after the student’s final class. Lucy Young Ceramics is not responsible for any work left longer than 6 weeks.

Children under 18:

  • Children must be attended with a parent or authorized guardian for the whole duration of the class.

  • It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to inform Lucy Young Ceramics of a child’s allergies in written form. Lucy Young Ceramics shall not be held liable for any allergic reactions or injuries caused by a parent/guardian’s failure to inform of allergies or other medical conditions.

  • The teacher will have the right to refuse to teach a student if they display any anti-social behaviour or become a risk to themselves of anyone else in the class.

Release of Liability:

  • I release this organization or person(s) from all liability and responsibility.

​

Assumption of Risk:

  • I acknowledge the potential risk of my participation in this class.

​

Indemnification:

  • I waive my right to sue this organization or person(s) for any injuries I may sustain.

​

Consent for Emergency Medical Treatment:

  • Permission for emergency medical treatment in case of injury or illness during the class
